Linux has support for logical volumes that makes file system management easily. Logical Volume Management (LVM) provides support to manage file system easily. There are two version in LVM these are LVM1 and LVM2.LVM is implement by creating physical volume, logical volume and Logical Group,

LVM Better Understanding terms

Physical Volume (PV): It is standard Primary or logical partition for the Hard drive.

Physical Extent (PE): PE is portion of disk space are equally divided sub division of physical volume.
