How To Change Root Password Redhat Linux In Single User Mode

1)While It shows booting option Kernel boot menu will appear.
click any single character it show the list of booting Os title
2)click ‘e’ charcet e means edit

Here it will show the there paramet root(hd0,0) and
2)kenel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.el5 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
3)initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-53.el5.img

Here choose the second kerenl option then add the word “single” at the end of the second option of the kernel
2)kenel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.el5 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet single
After add the word press ‘b’ character it will boot theat kernal with single user mode
then enter it will boot as the single user mode.
here you can change the root password by typing #passwd command
After change the password#init 6 restart the linux system then try it.
